During the 1700's Ireland was having a problem with making the poor citizens productive members of society. Swift proposes an idea to make the poor productive members by having the women fatten up and sell their babies by the age of one to the rich. Having women sell their babies would provide good food for the rich and in return the poor would get money. Throughout the proposal Swift provides six ways how his solution will benefit society.
