Nabokov believes a good reader is someone who re-reads. It is important to re-read so that you understand what you have read because sometimes it is easier to understand the book when you have read it the second time around. If you read too quickly you can miss some important details. Reading is meant for enjoyment and relaxation, which means when you read you must be patient. Also, when reading Nabokov believes it is important to use your imagination so you can see the authors views in a more artistic way. Before beginning a book it is important that you do not make any judgements that the book will be a certain way. Nabokov thinks that you should set aside your personal thoughts and let the authors views fill your mind and see the world in a different way.
I agree with Nabokov's views of a good reader. I believe a good reader must have great memory, a wild imagination, use a dictionary when reading, and have an artistic sense. All these qualities bring the book to life and will help you have a better understanding of what you're reading. I do not think I am a good reader because I make judgements before reading a book and automatically become uninterested. I also don't like reading in general, so I skip over big words, and try to power read so I can get the reading done as fast as I can even if I don't understand it completely.
